PORT HURON, MI (AP) -

A woman is returning to a Michigan court for her sentence in the death of her elderly Oregon mother who died after they were turned away from entering Canada.

Mary Grenia died inside a truck last March and her body was left outside a thrift store near Port Huron. An autopsy revealed heart and lung disease but no sign of trauma.

Kelly Rhodes will be in a St. Clair County court Friday to be sentenced for manslaughter. Authorities believe the death of her 89-year-old mother was due partly to neglect.

The 49-year-old Rhodes had been charged with murder but pleaded guilty to a lesser charge in November. Her lawyer has said they were stopped from entering Canada on the Blue Water Bridge.
