MIDLAND, MI (WNEM) -

Midland Police and the Michigan State Police are investigating a shooting at an apartment complex in Midland.

Officers responded to a call Friday of two people down inside an apartment in the 500 building of Joseph's Run Apartments.  Authorities said a 31-year-old woman was found deceased of an apparent gunshot wound, and a 36-year-old man with an apparent gunshot wound was transported to MidMichigan Medical Center with life threatening injuries.

The Michigan State Police Crime lab has been called in to help process the scene. The apartments are on Village Circle, north of the U.S. 10 highway.

"At this time, the Midland Police Department does not believe there is any further risk to the community," said authorities in a statement to TV5.

The case remains under investigation and anyone with information can call the Midland Police Department at 989-839-4713.

Nearly a dozen Joseph's Run units were destroyed by fire in July and in August MSP troopers busted a meth lab operating out of an apartment.

Since 2004, Midland has only recorded three homicides.
