The accident occurred at a pond near Hopewell Road.
FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -
A 9-year-old boy died Monday after breaking through pond ice in Franklin Township.
Authorities said the incident happened Sunday afternoon when three children were playing around a frozen pond on Hopewell Road. The ice on top on of the pond broke and two siblings fell into the water.
The homeowner was able to pull 9-year-old Kendra Akers from the water. However, the girl's twin brother, Adrian Nelson Akers, submerged before the homeowner could reach him.
A rescue crew was able to locate Adrian and remove him from the pond. Authorities said first aid was administered on scene before transferring the boy to Brown County Hospital where he later died.
Authorities said both children had been living with their grandmother in Felicity, Ohio. No further information was immediately available.
