Midland's possible murder-suicide victims ID'd

MIDLAND, MI (WNEM) -

WNEM TV5 now knows the names of two people killed in a shooting last week.

Midland police say 36-year-old John Parker II, of Essexville, and his 31-year-old wife, Melissa Jane Hodgins-Parker, of Midland, died in an apparent murder-suicide.

Officers responded to a call Friday, Jan. 3 of two people down inside an apartment in the 500 building of Joseph's Run Apartments.

Authorities said it's believed that John shot Melissa, then turned the gun on himself Friday afternoon at the Joseph's Run apartment complex in Midland. Melissa was found dead at the scene. John was found with an apparent gunshot wound was transported to MidMichigan Medical Center with life threatening injuries where he later died.

No further details about the case have been released. The couple leave behind three children.
