Stretch of I-475 reopened after influx of accidents

TV5 has received word that officials have closed Southbound I-475 between Robert T. Longway Boulevard and Stewart Avenue in Genesee County.

Genesee County 911 Operations is reporting that police are on the scene of as many as 20 accidents on that stretch of roadway.

The closure was put into effect around 11:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

It is unclear if any injuries have been sustained. It is also unclear how long the highway will be shut down.

The northbound lanes of I-475 also has many reports of accidents but it is not shutdown.
