Federal judge sides with city workers

FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

The city of Flint is responding to a decision that could put the city deeper in debt.

A federal appeals court sided with former city employees regarding healthcare benefits.

The six retired workers sued Flint after a 2012 decision that would have made them pay more for health coverage.

Flint Emergency Financial Manager Darnell Earley says if they can't make a deal, it will cripple Flint's finances.

"We're going to reach out to all of the retirees, to make sure they understand the gravity of what it is we're talking about," said Earley.

The city has said stopping the cuts will cost millions and could lead to bankruptcy.

TV5 wants to know, should retirees try to work out a deal with Flint regarding their healthcare benefits?
