Allen Park, MI (WNEM) -

According to several media reports, the Detroit Lions have named Jim Caldwell as their new head coach.

Caldwell last served as the Baltimore Raven's offensive coordinator. Caldwell was head coach of the Indianapolis Colts from 2008-2011.

His regular season coaching record with the Colts was 26-22. He was also 2-2 in the playoffs.

Caldwell began his head coaching career in college at Wake Forest University from 1993-2000. In eight years, his coaching record was 26-63. He had only one winning season in 1999 where the Demon Deacons won the Aloha Bowl.

Caldwell was also a four-year starter at defensive back for the University of Iowa in the mid '70s.

Caldwell replaces Jim Schwartz, who was fired on December 30 after going 29-51 with the Lions.
