Dozens of people packed in to the West Branch City Council Chambers for a special meeting Friday.
Residents and West Branch Regional Medical Center employees were looking for answers relating to the recent termination of the hospital's Chief Operating Officer, Jerry Worden.
Worden began at WBRMC in July and just six months later he was terminated by the Chief Executive Officer. City Council requested the hospital's Board of Trustees and Administration be present at this meeting to provide answers to the public on the dismissal of Worden. No one from the administration was at the meeting to provide answers.
Mark Sierra, a physician and President of the Medical Staff at WBRMC started a petition titled, "A vote of No Confidence in the current leadership of WBRMC." The petition asks for the following items:
1. The next meeting of the Board of Trustees of West Branch Medical Center to be in an open forum.
2. That the current administrative hierarchy be dissolved.
3. That a board vote be taken in public for the return of Jerry Worden as CEO of WBRMC.
The City Council passed a motion for a special joint meeting to be held next Thursday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. at the West Branch Community Center.
