Saginaw Spirit win 5th straight game behind Paterson's 59 saves

The Saginaw Spirit visited the London Knights Friday, January 17th at the Budweiser Gardens and took the win on a 3-1 score.
The first period produced an abundance of penalties. Less than 4 minutes into the game Anthony Stolarz was cut on the leg and Jake Pattersonreplaced him in the net. Zach Bell was later forced to leave the ice after a tussle with Eric Locke leading to 7 minutes of penalty kills for the Knights. Both teams displayed great defensive tact as no goals were scored during this period.
The Knights began the second period with a large presence in the Spirit's territory. Eight minutes into the period however, Dylan Sadowy scoredthe first goal of the game on a breakaway off a pass from Eric Locke giving the Spirit a one goal lead. The remaining 12 minutes of second period play were goalless.
The final period began on a Spirit goal off a backhanded shot by Justin Kea from Terry Trafford and Nick Moutrey at 2:48. Less than three minuteslater the Knights get their first goal as the puck found the back of the net on a power play goal by Bo Horvat from Chris Tierney and Ryan Rupert. Jake Paterson made several impressive saves in the final minutes of the game as the Knights fired 30 shots ongoal in the final period. The Knights pulled goalie Jake Patterson leading to an open net goal scored by Eric Locke with 30 seconds remaining in the game.
