Crews find, fix natural gas leak

SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

TV5 received word that Consumers Energy crews were on the scene of a gas leak in Saginaw Township, and that the leak has been fixed.

The incident was near the intersection of State and Hemmeter streets near the Green Acres Plaza. Officials narrowed the source of the leak to an area 20 feet east of Hemmeter Road.

It was first noticed late Wednesday night, and crews had been on the scene ever since.

Terry Dedoes with Consumers Energy says it has been difficult to find the source of the leak because of the frost in the ground and, the gas is moving in an edge drain along the road.

No evacuations have been issued.

TV5 will continue to follow this story and will provide updates as new information is learned.
