WINTER HAVEN, FL (WFLA) - Investigators with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office have arrested one suspect and are seeking a second on human trafficking charges.

Authorities are on the lookout for Devin ‘Smooth’ Dixon, a 29-year-old convicted felon who may be in Hillsborough or Polk County.

According to a PCSO report deputies responded to an address in Winter Haven on Friday to conduct welfare check on a 21-year-old woman. When deputies spoke to the woman she told them that she was being held against her will and beaten.

Specialized detectives were brought in and determined the unidentified female was the victim of human trafficking. Marisol Rodriguez, 21, was arrested and charged with one count of human trafficking and one count of being a principal to human trafficking.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Dixon on similar charges. Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies are assisting in the search for the male suspect. Rodriguez was booked into the Polk County Jail where she is being held on a bond of $10,500.

Rodriguez is no stranger to law enforcement in Polk County. She’s been arrested on five previous occasions since 2011 on a variety of charges including drug possession, battery and aggravated assault.

“Human trafficking is one of those crimes you hear about and hope to never find in your backyard,” said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd of the case. “Unfortunately, it has happened here in Polk County. We will work with this victim to get her the physical and psychological help she needs to recover from this heinous crime.”

Dixon does not have an arrest history in Polk County but he does in Manatee County. In 2002 he was convicted on a robbery with a deadly weapon charge and served eight years in the state prison system.

If you have any information on the suspect’s whereabouts please contact the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
