CASSOPOLIS, Mich. (AP) -
Authorities in one southwestern Michigan county that's been hard hit by snow say people on the roads for non-essential or non-emergency reasons may be ticketed.
The Cass County Office of Emergency Management issued the warning for motorists in updates Monday morning about a snow emergency that's in effect.
The county saw 8 to 11 inches of new snow Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Combined with blowing and drifting snow, authorities say some roadways are extremely hazardous and in some cases impassible. Whiteout conditions and crashes are reported.
All Cass County residents are being urged to stay off of the roads. Authorities say the snow emergency will be lifted once conditions improve.
