Winter weather snarls traffic, closes highways

SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Winter weather caused the closures of three Mid-Michigan highways Monday morning as a fresh blanket of snow led to treacherous travel conditions.

Eastbound Business U.S. 10 was closed at Waldo Road for about three and a half hours but the highway reopened around 11:30 a.m. No word on what caused the crash or the amount of vehicles involved. That crash happened around 8 a.m. Monday morning.

There was also a jack-knifed semi on the southbound lanes of I-75, just south of Bristol Road in Genesee County. The highway was closed as crews cleaned up the mess but the highway is now back open to traffic. The crash on I-75 happened around 9:15 a.m.

Westbound I-69 in Genesee County was also closed for a short time at Miller Road but the stretch of roadway has since reopened.

Genesee County 911 Operations reported several morning accidents. Crews were on the scene of dozens of crashes in the Flint area.

Be careful on the roadways and use caution during your commute.
