2-car crash on Business 10 in Midland leaves 1 dead

MIDLAND, MI (WNEM) -

A fatal traffic accident led to the closure of an area highway on Monday morning.

The two-car crash happened on U.S. 10 around 7 a.m. between Patrick Road and Waldo Avenue.

According to the Midland Daily News, the two vehicles involved, a 2001 Ford F-150 pick-up truck and a 2000 Buick sedan, collided nearly head-on. According to police, the pick-up truck driver lost control, crossed the median, and entered the path of the Buick. As a result of the impact, the pick-up truck was flipped over onto its roof on the roadway.

Police said in a statement to TV5 that the Buick driver, a 46-year-old Midland man, passed away at the scene as a result of injuries sustained. The 65-year-old driver of the pick-up was treated and released from an area hospital.

An accident reconstruction team was called to the scene. At this hour, all lanes have been reopened.

Police said currently there are no witnesses in this crash and anyone with information is asked to call the Midland Police Department at 989-839-4713.
