NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, NV (FOX5) -
A person who prompted a lockdown at a hospital near Nellis Air Force Base was taken into custody after a nearly six-hour standoff with police.
Las Vegas Metro police reported a call of a man believed to be armed with a handgun about 9:15 a.m. Thursday.
Larry Hadfield with Metro said a distraught person there was threatening himself. Hadfield also said the person was threatening himself in a parking lot outside Mike O'Callaghan Federal Medical Center near the base on Las Vegas Boulevard North.
A Nellis Air Force Base spokesperson said the hospital was placed on lockdown.
Authorities also said the incident prompted road closures for people approaching the area around Nellis. Metro tweeted a closure in the southbound lanes of Las Vegas Boulevard North starting at Range Road.
The man in the incident was taken into custody without incident.
