STARKVILLE, MS (RNN) - The No. 3-ranked Florida Gators took a road win and defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs 62-51 Thursday night.

The victory was the 12th win in a row for the Gators (18-2, 7-0 SEC) as they sit atop the SEC standings two games ahead of No. 11-ranked Kentucky. It's also the 12th time this season the Gators held an opponent to 50 or fewer points in a game. The Bulldogs fell to 13-7 with their fourth conference loss of the season.

Florida got off to a slow start, and after a brief Mississippi State lead with nine minutes left in the first half, the visitors took over to lead by one point at halftime. The Gators pulled away in the second half and finished with an 11-point victory.

Forward Casey Prather led the Gators in scoring with 16 points and added seven rebounds. Florida had a poor shooting night, shooting 42 percent from the foul line, 46.2 percent from the floor and 30 percent from 3-point range.

Mississippi State's leading scorer was forward Colin Borchert with 15 points and guard Craig Sword added 12 points in the loss. The Bulldogs made 16.7 percent of their foul shots, shot 42.6 percent from field goal range and 28.6 percent from downtown.

Florida returns to Gainesville on Saturday to host the Texas A&M Aggies for a 4 p.m. ET tipoff. Mississippi State will travel to Nashville to play the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday for a 5 p.m. ET tipoff.
