TUSCOLA COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Police were forced to advise drivers to stay off of M-25 in northern Tuscola County due to multiple crashes reported in the area Friday morning.

Police hawere on the scene of multiple accidents and they say roadways in rural areas of the county were practically a sheet of ice.

With the slightly warmer temperatures, some of the snow that fell overnight melted but a lot of the melted snow refroze and that made the roadways treacherous.

In many rural areas with open fields, wind blew snow back over the road and that caused problems on mutiple roadways.

Crashes were reported on M-25 at Quanicassee Road, Kirk Road and Thomas Road. There were also numerous crashes reported on M-81, west of Caro and west of Cass City.

Police were also reporting of a crash on M-24 near Wireline Road, which is just south of Caro.

You are urged to use caution when traveling on the roadways.
