The mother of a man who died following a confrontation with security guards at a suburban Detroit shopping mall says her son was murdered.
Teresa Cochran tells the Detroit Free Press she is struggling to understand what happened to her 25-year-old son.
Southfield police say Mckenzie Cochran died Tuesday after being pepper-sprayed and restrained by security guards at Northland Center.
Teresa Cochran says "what was done to" her son "was unspeakable."
After watching cellphone video that shows Mckenzie Cochran being restrained, Teresa Cochran says she sees him "being murdered."
Northland Center general manager Brent Reetz says the guards weren't aware Mckenzie Cochran had stopped breathing.
According to police, Cochran's body showed no signs of blunt trauma. It could be two months before a cause of death is determined.
