SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Gov. Rick Snyder has kicked off his run for a second term Monday morning by announcing his re-election bid in Detroit.

The governor started early, by running an ad in Sunday night's Super Bowl.

The governor talked economy when he visited businesses that benefited from his policies during a two-day tour that begins Monday in Detroit.

He'll also make a trip to Mid-Michigan during the stump, appearing in Frankenmuth on Tuesday. He'll stop by Zehnder's at 1 p.m.

Democrats were quick to jump on the ad that Snyder aired during the Super Bowl, calling the governor "out of touch."

A spokesman for Democratic nominee Mark Schauer says what Michigan needs is an economy that works for the middle class.
