The latest winter storm to blow through Michigan has dumped more than a half-foot of snow in some areas, snarling traffic and keeping tow companies busy.
Monroe in southeastern Michigan received 8 inches of snow as of 1 p.m. Wednesday and could get a half-inch more.
National Weather Service meteorologist Rachel Kulik says the Detroit area has been hit with anywhere from 6 to 8 inches, with 8 inches reported at Detroit Metropolitan Airport in Romulus.
Lansing has received 5 inches of snow, but accumulations are a bit lower to the west.
Less than 5 inches has fallen in Grand Rapids and parts of Jackson, Van Buren and Kalamazoo counties.
The weather service says unseasonably cold will follow, with lows below zero in many areas Thursday night and Friday.
