Suspect arrested after vehicle window shot out

MOUNT PLEASANT, MI (WNEM) -

The Mt. Pleasant Police department tells WNEM.com officers responded to a report of property damage in the rear parking lot of 2231 S. Mission Street on Monday.

Authorities said their initial investigation revealed the damage was to a vehicle rear window and that the damage was caused by a gunshot coming from south of the parking lot.

Police said when the window was shot out, a person was inside the vehicle. The gunshot did not cause any injury.

After further investigation, it was determined that a person heard possible gunshots in the area prior to the incident but did not report the suspicious activity to authorities.

Police said while working with the Central Michigan University Police, a suspect was identified and is in custody with charges pending. The incident remains under investigation.

Investigators said they do not believe there is any danger to the public related to this incident.
