Local school district plans consolidation

BEAVERTON, MI (WNEM) -

Another Mid-Michigan school district has agreed on a plan to avoid a deficit.

The Midland Daily News reports the Beaverton school board has decided to consolidate the district's campus.

Students in grades kindergarten through six will attend what is currently Beaverton Middle School. Grades seven through 12 will be housed at Beaverton High School.

Superintendent Susan Wooden says the plan is expected to save the district $100,000 next year.

Wooden says the current building being used to house the students is aging and has issues with safety and security. The cafeteria is also deemed to be too small and there is no gymnasium inside of the building.
