MUNDY TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

Mundy Township police were called to the scene of a two-car crash on Sunday night after a wrong-way driver struck another car on U.S. 23 in Genesee County.

The crash happened at 10:15 p.m. after Genesee County 911 received calls of a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes near the Torrey Road overpass.

Authorities said their preliminary investigation indicates a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt being driven by a 28-year-old man from South Carolina was traveling north on U.S. 23 when it was struck head-on by a 2004 Chevrolet Impala being driven by an 18-year-old man from Swartz Creek.

The South Carolina man, identified by police as Bryan Collins, was in the car with his newly married wife, Mariah Bailey, 36, of Mt. Morris, and her 11-year-old son.

Police said Bailey was pronounced dead at the scene, her 11-year-old son is listed in critical condition and Collins is listed in stable condition.

Investigators said the 18-year-old driver of the Impala was treated at Hurley Medical Center for minor injuries.

Police say they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash and it remains under investigation.
