FLUSHING TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

Police have arrested a man in connection to a standoff that took place on the 5000 block of Deland Street in Genesee County's Flushing Township.

The standoff began around 12 a.m. early Wednesday morning and ended around 5:30 a.m.

Flushing Township Police received a complaint from a caller at the home. That caller stated that the suspect had threatened to shoot them. They also stated that the suspect threatened police and himself.

When police arrived on the scene, the complainant was outside of the home. Officers were forced to evacuate a few homes around the area as a safety precaution. The standoff also caused a delay to the start of Flushing High and Middle schools.

Police then used flash bang stimulus in an attempt to remove the man from the residence. The subject surrendered to police at around 6 a.m.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office sent in an armored vehicle to help with the situation. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.

The man is currently lodged in the Genesee County Jail awaiting arraignment on Felonius Assault charges.

There is no word on what prompted the standoff.
