Flint's state-appointed emergency manager says City Council committee meetings will resume as elected leaders prepare to handle more duties.
The Flint Journal reports the public safety committee and finance committee both meet Wednesday.
Emergency manager Darnell Earley says in a statement that "As we look to the eventual return of city council in their legislative governmental function, now is the time to begin that process."
Flint, about 50 miles northwest of Detroit, has been under state oversight since 2011.
Council committee meetings were cut in Flint by former emergency manager Michael Brown, who approved an executive order Dec. 1, 2011. Committees have met from time to time as ordered by the emergency manager to discuss issues such as planning and the budget.
