Man dies days after rollover crash

A 30-year-old Mid-Michigan man has died from injuries sustained in a car crash last week.

The crash happened Friday, Feb. 7 in Lapeer County's Goodland Township.

Deputies from the Lapeer County Sheriff's Office responded to a one-car rollover crash on Van Dyke (M-53) near Caldwell Road in Imlay City.

Investigators say 24-year-old Joshua Taylor from Imlay City was driving a Volkswagen Jetta southbound on Van Dyke Road when he crossed into the gravel shoulder and into a snowy ditch. The car continued for a distance before striking a snow embankment which resulted in the vehicle becoming airborne. When it returned to the ground, the car rolled, striking a street light and tree before coming to rest on its side.

Donald Tuscok, of Leonard, was the front seat passenger.

Imlay City police officers Tim Wolford and Dave Rock were the first to arrive and discovered Tuscok not breathing.  Lifesaving efforts were started and Tuscok was taken to McLaren- Lapeer Region with life-threatening injuries.

On Wednesday, Feb. 12 police reported Tuscok passed away from those injuries.

Taylor was also taken to the hospital after the crash but has since been released.

The investigation into the crash continues but preliminary results indicate alcohol and speed maybe contributing factors.
