SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -
A local man displayed heroic actions over the weekend after he rescued a neighbor from a burning home.
The fire broke out around 10 a.m. Saturday morning on South 9th Street near Burt Street in Saginaw.
When TV5 crews arrived on the scene, firefighters were still working to put out the flames. The man, Bobby Johnson, tells WNEM when he realized his neighbor's home was on fire, he ran over to help.
Johnson apparently went inside the home and a woman was sitting in the chair, unaware the home was on fire. After Johnson alerted her to the situation, she was able to get out of the structure unharmed.
"I went over there and I didn't see any cars, so the door was already open. I went in and saw Mrs. Bryson sitting there. She walking out. I grabbed her and got her out there and got her to the next door houses," says Johnson.
His actions were brave, but Johnson says he doesn't feel like a hero. He says he did what any good neighbor would do.
No word yet on how that fire started.
