Officials say two women were injured after the roof of a western Michigan home collapsed under the weight of snow.
The Grand Rapids Press reports the 81- and 45-year-olds were taken to a hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries. The roof collapsed early Wednesday in Ottawa County's Georgetown Township, about 10 miles southwest of Grand Rapids.
The collapse came after several inches of fresh snow fell Monday night.
Meanwhile, WOOD-TV reports no one was injured when an attached garage collapsed Wednesday morning under snow in the Kent County community of Lowell.
The National Weather Service has warned that rain predicted for Michigan this week could put more stress on snow-covered roofs. There have been several roof collapses reported since January across Michigan, mostly at buildings with flat roofs.
