Sarasota woman arrested on attempted murder charge

SARASOTA, FL (WFLA) - A 52-year-old Sarasota woman is facing attempted murder charges following a shooting late Friday night in the 3100 block of Southgate Circle.

Louise Jane Adkins was booked into the Sarasota County Jail where she is being held without bond.

According to a Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office report deputies were dispatched to Southgate Circle just after 11 p.m. in response to a shots fired call. An unidentified woman reported hearing noises behind the building she was in and when she went to investigate she encountered Adkins.

The suspect, who knows the victim, fired one shot. The victim called for help and was treated by emergency service personnel for a non life-threatening injury.

Adkins was located and arrested. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues. The suspect is scheduled to be arraigned on the attempted murder charge on March 21st.
