Troopers from the Michigan State Police in West Branch are investigating a fatal snowmobile crash that occurred on Tuesday, Feb. 25 in Ogemaw County's Foster Township.
The crash happened around 5:15 p.m. on Trail 969. Authorities were first notified of the incident by a caller who reported that he and his friend were riding separate sleds when his friend's snowmobile left the trail and struck a tree.
When troopers arrived at the scene, they located the man, who was unresponsive. Medical personnel arrived and determined that Joseph S. Blair, Jr., was deceased. Blair was a 67-year-old resident of Lupton, Mich.
Troopers say the accident remains under investigation and that alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
