4 Shot, 3 dead in Fremont bar shooting

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Three people are dead, one person seriously injured, following a shooting at a Fremont bar early Sunday morning.

Fremont Police say the shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. at the Last Call Saloon on W State Street.

According to witnesses, the shooting was sparked by an argument inside the bar.

Three people were fatally wounded. Fremont Police have identified the victims as Ramiro Sanchez, 28, who was employed as the bartender, Jose "Andy" Chavez, 26, an off-duty Elmore police officer hanging out at the bar, and Daniel Ramirez, 25, also a patron of the bar,

The fourth victim, 25-year-old Ramiro Arreola, was Life Flighted to a Toledo hospital.

An update on Arreola's condition has not yet been released.

Officer Chavez had been employed as a full time officer by the Elmore Police Dept. since January 2012. Officer Chavez leaves behind a wife and two young children.

The shooting remains under investigation. The shooter, who has not been identified or arrested, was described as a short man.

Fremont Mayor Jim Ellis released the following statement regarding the shooting:

"As we have seen too often in recent years, thoughtless violence can and does occur in any community in our nation. Most often all that can be done is to mourn the loss of life, find and prosecute the perpetrators and pray for healing of the community's spirit. We will do all of these things as we offer help to the families of the victims, our neighbors, and keep them in our hearts. We will face this challenge head on and with unflagging diligence."
