Winter continues to land its punches

FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

It seems like this winter, it's been the same old song and dance.

There's been more snow, more shoveling and more problems on local roads, and it has definitely take a toll.

"Whoever that person is who needs to say uncle, do it, because we all say 'uncle,'" said a group of people walking on the University of Michigan - Flint campus Tuesday night.

But until Mother Nature decides to give it a rest, long days will continue for the guys who keep our streets safe.

"We still have a lot of salt. We actually didn't have to use a lot of salt during the last period because of the fact that the weather was so cold," said Genesee County Manager-Director John Daly.

Daly said all hands will be on deck starting at 3 a.m. on Wednesday.

"We may encounter some icing, so we will probably be putting down some salt on the bridge decks, overpass ramps, exit ramps, any place where the road comes up out of the ground," said Daly.

As Mother Nature continues to throw punches this winter, area drivers are ready to give up the fight.

"Can't wait for spring. I'm just sick of the snow," said Ahmed Abdulhay.

"It never ends, and I feel like this has been the worst winter we've had in a long time. I usually like winter until this year," laughed Jacob Schlaud.

Daly reminds drivers to give a little extra time Wednesday morning.
