MSP advising people to stay off roads

Posted: Updated:
BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

The Michigan State Police Department is advising people to stay off the roads unless travel is urgent.

Blowing snow is creating whiteout conditions in many areas of Mid-Michigan. The areas most affected are rural with large open fields and deep irrigation ditches.

Police advise that visibility is low in many areas. The blustery conditions are responsible for a number of crashes on area roadways.

There were several road closures in the area because of accidents. Some lanes of M-13 were closed because of a rollover accident.

Delta Road was also closed after a car got stuck in a snow drift in the middle of road.

So far, there have been no reports of serious injuries.
