FLINT, MI (WNEM) -
Sad details to pass along as TV5 has learned that a worker has taken his own life at the Flint Assembly plant.
The situation happened Tuesday afternoon at the plant, located at the intersection of Van Slyke and Atherton. The plant was not evacuated but operations are shut down as employees were addressed of the situation.
Tom Wickham with Global Manufacturing Communications issued a statement Tuesday afternoon, saying:
"Tragically, an employee at GM's Assembly plant in Flint, Michigan took his life this afternoon. No one else in the plant was injured. We're working with local authorities as the incident is investigated. Our condolences and deepest sympathies go to the employee's family and colleagues. Grief counselors are on site to support employees."
Not many details are known at this time but TV5 will have more details as new information is learned.
