Officer's gun allegedly sold, returned

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tucson policecontinue to investigate the circumstances surrounding an officer's serviceweapon that was lost then allegedly sold before returned to authorities.

TPD Sgt. Chris Widmer said the gun was discovered missing from a policeofficer's holster on March 3 after a long foot chase with a purse theft suspect.

A man later returned the gun to police on March 5 and said he purchased itfrom another person.  

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to call 911or 88-CRIME.
