ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Movie makers have continued shooting scenes of the upcoming film Fast & Furious 7 on the streets of downtown Atlanta.

The movie's producers halted production a few months ago after one of its stars, Paul Walker, died in a car accident.

On Wednesday morning, a CBS46 News crew spotted a large amount of production equipment on Wall Street. Off-duty Atlanta police officers were closely guarding the equipment.

According to signs in the area, filmmakers have a permit to shoot scenes during the overnight hours through Saturday on Marietta Street, Farlie Street, Wall Street and other areas near the CNN Center. Business owners have been notified that they might hear sounds of simulated explosions and other loud noises during production of the overnight scenes.

Resident Nicole Holloman isn't worried about the noise.

"I am excited. Maybe I'll run into one of the cast members or something. I'm a big Rock fan. And Tyrese, I love his music and his acting," said Holloman, who works at a deli on Marietta Street within sight of one of the filming locations.

Robert Sherrod works in a high-rise building at Marietta and Farlie streets.

"I'm from Los Angeles, so I know how exciting it is to see [a movie production] in your backyard and to see your neighborhood on TV," said Sherrod.

His co-worker Bilquis Martin is a big fan of the Fast & Furious movies.

"It's funny because I was at the mailroom yesterday, and I saw them, and I said, 'It looks like they're using our little docking area as an alleyway,'" said Martin. "Downtown Atlanta is very historic, so it's a lot of character. I definitely look forward to looking for our area in the movie and saying, 'That's our building!'"

Fans say they're interested to see how filmmakers re-wrote the script after Walker's death.
