Things back to normal in Bay City after electrical malfunction

BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -
An electrical malfunction in downtown Bay City forced the closure of 6th Street and also caused the closure of the Delta College Planetarium Wednesday.
The roadway and facility have reopened.
There were reports of numerous power outages within the city. The areas most affected were the city's downtown area and northeast side. Most of the outages downtown were from Washington Avenue west to the river between Fifth and Sixth streets.
Bay City Electric says equipment failed in an electric vault inside a man hole. That caused the man hole cover to blow off and also led to power outages.
The DoubleTree Hotel also was forced to close because of the outage. The manager there says they ran on a back up generator.
The Delta College Planetarium was also closed Wednesday due to the power outage.
TV5 will continue to follow this story and will provide updates as new information is learned.
