SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

The Saginaw County Child Abuse and Neglect Council wants to expand and they need your help.

The council considered expanding to other areas but ultimately settled on an expansion at their current location on North Michigan Avenue in Saginaw.

The organization helps abused and neglected children in Mid-Michigan is looking to expand right here in Saginaw.

Suzanne Greenberg is President and CEO of the council. With so many different programs being run, she says the need is greater than their current space is the three million dollar project that will be built on the site of their current facility.

"We have continued to focus on prevention and this building. We are going to be allowed, the space now to do the prevention work, whether it be directly with families, children or offering professionals an education. It will be a lot more efficient for us to be able to offer those programs here," says Greenberg.

The council currently has about 5 thousand square feet that they are working with and with the expansion, they will more than double that to help kids in the community who need them.

The council has raised about two million dollars for the expansion but still needs about a million more.
