Harsh winter deals a huge blow to Michigan's bee population

SAGINAW, MI (WNEM/AP) -

Bee keepers say the record cold winter has killed off a big part of the state's bee population.

Honey bees spend the winter moving around inside their hives and eating honey. But this year was too cold for them to even move, and most froze to death.

This could end up hitting your wallet. Officials say the smaller bee population will cause honey prices to rise this year.
