SWIM: Tandy prepares for 2nd act

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Act One. Break a school record.

Act Two?

What is next for Arizona Wildcats junior Brad Tandy? The junior college transfer broke the UA school-record in the men's 50-yard freestyle (18.80) earlier this month at the Pac-12 Championships. It was his first event for the program after being deemed eligible to compete by the NCAA.

Tandy also broke Nathan Adrien's (Cal) previous conference meet record of 18.82 from back in 2009. In doing so he became the first Wildcat to ever break the 19 second mark in the event. Arizona's previous record was a 19.03 set by Adam Small back in 2011.

The 18.80 time is also the fastest in the country so far this year.

Act Two? Win an NCAA title. That is what Tandy will try to do Thursday night in Austin, Texas when the Men's NCAA Swimming Championships begin.
