Study shows health rankings of local counties

How healthy are the people in your community? Depending on where you live in Mid-Michigan, the answer might not be very good.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation teamed up with the University of Wisconsin to bring the health rankings to states across the nation.

Saginaw County ranks near the bottom of overall health rankings for the state, ranking #73 overall. In fact, many areas around Mid-Michigan could use some work.

Isabella and Midland counties lead the way in the TV5 viewing area. Midland ranked #11 while Isabella ranked #12.

Here is a list of where counties in the TV5 viewing area measured up:

  • Genesee #81

Meanwhile, Saginaw County has created a roadmap to better health. It's focused on reducing things like obesity, infant mortality and chronic disease like diabetes.
