Police have arrested a Shreveport man in connection with an early morning shooting Friday in the city's Highland neighborhood.
Mayson Lane, 20 of Shreveport was arrested and charged with illegal use of a weapon after he allegedly fired a gun and struck Manuel Garita Jr. in the 200 block of Prospect Street. A dispute broke out between the men and Garita accused Mayson of shooting him in the leg, police said.
Lane admitted to shooting Garita in self defense during the fight. However, police said he may have been under the influence of an intoxicant. Garita was taken to University Health Shreveport with non-life-threatening wounds.
Lane is being held at the Shreveport Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
