The Covenant Kids telethon is just weeks away, and one Mid-Michigan boy has spent the last several months raising money for the cause.
Kadin Bennett, 9, of Midland, is hoping to raise $1,000 in time for the telethon April 19.
Kadin has already raised more than $500 by collecting pop cans and through online donations.
"I just wanted to do something nice for kids," said Kadin.
The fourth grade boy says he feels bad for other kids who are sick in the hospital.
"It's sad. I want them to not be in the hospital," said Kadin.
Kadin's mother, Heather Bennett, is guiding her son as he works to raise money. She says she was surprised when he first came to her with the idea, and she's happy to see him working so hard to give back.
"I feel so proud and so humbled. He's amazing," said Bennett.
Kadin says helping others is something we should all be part of, and for other kids with big ideas like himself, he says you never know if it'll work until you try.
"It's like my teacher says, try and try again," said Kadin.
