SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

It's been nearly a month since the death of a young boy and two people accused of murdering the boy face preliminary trials in his death.

A preliminary exam is Wednesday afternoon for Aki Dillard and Mio Campbell.

Police found their six year old son, Elijah Dillard unresponsive at their home on Ames Street in Saginaw in February.

When police discovered Elijah, they say he had burns on his body and trauma to his head.

A few days later, Elijah died from his injuries at a local hospital.

Aki Dillard, the boy's legal father, has been charged with first degree murder and open murder in his death.

Mio Campbell, Elijah's mother has also been formally charged with child abuse.

TV5's Faith Gantner is at the preliminary hearing and she says that Mio Campbell has agreed to testify against Aki Dillard.

We will continue to follow this story and will provide updates as new information is learned.
