Imagine losing your home, only to have your insurance company offer you half what it's worth.
That's exactly what one local homeowner is going through after a large tree crushed his house during a powerful wind storm last summer.
Warren Hankish says his insurer has been dragging its feet for nine months and he wants the situation resolved. Hankish says his insurance company is offering and what he says the home is worth.
"The inspection that has been done on this says the house is a total loss and they are saying they can repair it for this much money and this is what we are going to give you and this doesn't even come near what my policy's written for," says Hankish.
Hankish admits Michigan Miller Mutual Insurance gave him a check for more than $65,000 a few months ago.
Hankish says the policy is worth nearly twice as much.
TV5 called Michigan Miller Mutual to ask the tough questions. Why they haven't covered the entire amount? After several calls, we still have not heard back from them.
In the meantime, Hankish says he is tired of the back and forth.
"I'm hoping that they just resolve this issue and just let me get on with my life," says Hankish.
