Tucson man among 9 arrested in FBI bust

PHOENIX (Tucson News Now) -

Federal and local authorities have rounded up 9 suspected gang members in Pima, Pinal and Maricopa counties.  They're under indictment on conspiracy, money laundering, and drug charges.

The FBI's Violent Street Gang Task Force is behind Wednesday's operation, which comes after indictments against ten people.  Authorities arrested two defendants without incident. Seven of the ten defendants charged were already in custody. 

The defendants are listed as: 

• Leonard Medina, aka "Boom," 38, Florence, AZ
• Francisco Ruiz, aka "Cisco," 39, Phoenix, AZ
• Rigoberto Hernandez, aka "Lil Rob," 45, Phoenix, AZ
• Julia Santivanez, 36, Phoenix, AZ
• Dolores Trevino, 33, Phoenix, AZ
• Carmen Bedoya, 36, Tucson, AZ
• Irene Acosta, 37, Palm Springs, CA

Two additional co-conspirators have not yet been named but are pending arraignment. One defendant remains at large.

This case is being investigated by the FBI's Violent Street Gang Task Force, comprised of the FBI, Phoenix Police Department, Arizona Department of Public Safety, Arizona Department of Corrections and the Pima County Sheriff's Office.
