SANILAC COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

The boy who fatally shot his friend during a sleepover in Sanilac County boy is expected to be sentenced Monday.

The boy, whose name has not been released, pleaded guilty to carelessly discharging a firearm in connection with the fatal shooting of his 11-year-old friend.

Tyler Dunn, 12, died last November after being shot in a Sanilac County home. Officials say no adults were home at the time.

The court will decide if the boy will be sentenced as an adult or a juvenile.

His father faces a May 15 trial for allegedly possessing a firearm as a felon and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
