GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
The world's largest, most efficient gas turbine has arrived in Upstate.
General Electric said HArriet, GE's 866,000-pound, high-efficiency, air-cooled gas turbine completed its 6,000 mile journey from Belfort, France to Greenville around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
The turbine traveled to the United States from France by transport trucks, by sea, river and made it's journey from Savannah, GA to Greenville via rail. Click here to see more about HArriet's travels on Twitter.
HArriet will be tested at the GE facility located off of Garlington Road near Woodruff Road.
But to get HArriet to the plant, traffic was delayed as it crossed the railroad tracks along Woodruff Road between Garlington and Interstate 385..
In Greenville, GE's full speed, full load, non-grid connected test center in Greenville is one-of-a kind and is where HArriet will undergo rigorous operational testing and evaluation.
