Student fight breaks out, mother claims bullying problem

BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -
Cell phone video captured a fight between two girls in front of Bay City Central High School on Thursday.
"She turned and punched me in my forehead. So then we just got in a big fighting session," claimed Brianna Ramey.
Ramey is one of the girls in the video. She said she was attacked on her way to catch the bus right after school. Students surrounded the two and the video was posted on Youtube and sent to other students' cell phones.
"I feel embarrassed," said Ramey.
Brianna Ramey's mother Debra Ramey happened to be at the bank across the street when the fight broke out. She's seen in the footage breaking it up. A fight she said should have never happened.
"I was devastated. I was dumbfounded. I was hurt. How can kids get a joy out of watching other kids get beat up?" said Debra Ramey.
She claimed she contacted school officials three weeks ago to complain about bullying at the school. She said the school told her it would look into it. Ramey claims the girl who she said started the fight had actually been suspended because of another incident, and should have never been on school grounds.
"She had lingered around the school, they had planned this. That she would wait for school to let out, and then they would attack my daughter," said Debra Ramey.
TV5 contacted Bay City Schools Superintendent Douglas Newcombe on Friday night. He said he doesn't know much yet about what happened Thursday, since the incident happened after school. And with Friday being a holiday, he hasn't received the specific details of what went down, but promised to look into it.
"I know there's a lot of bullying going on. And I figure this is part of bullying, because it's an ongoing thing. It's not just something that happened out of the blue, it was planned. These girls knew exactly what they were going to do," said Debra Ramey.
