AT&T has announced it's hiring right here in Mid-Michigan.
It's the latest positive development for downtown Saginaw in recent weeks.
Saginaw resident Linton Patrick was excited about the possibility of landing a new job with AT&T.
"I really can't contain myself right now," Patrick said.
He even showed up two hours early for the hiring event taking place at the downtown offices Saturday.
"First signature on the paper," he said.
Patrick may have been the first, but he wasn't alone. Dozens of people spent part of their Saturday morning hoping to find that next job opportunity.
"I want something where I can actually stay in the company and progress," said Andrea Peterson. "Right now I'm part-time over at the city police department working in records. Great opportunity over there, but I feel this could be a good building block."
AT&T will fill 16 new positions, bringing more jobs to downtown Saginaw. Some believe it's a sign of things to come.
"Its very exciting," said Angie Mille, president of the CWA local 4108. She said this is just what the city needs.
"All of us know what happened to the Saginaw area," Mille said. "There's been tons of layoffs with different companies, and this has the potential of keeping people here, keeping people living here in Saginaw and feeding that revenue into the Saginaw community."
Despite all the competition, Patrick, who already works for the company, is optimistic about his chances.
"It would mean everything, a perfect opportunity for me and my family," Patrick said.
